Description:
Fantastic opportunity with one of our top clients, a prestigious financial services company based in Chicago with a need for a Database Administrator to join their team as a full-time employee. As a Database Administrator, you will design and maintain databases and database solutions that operate within prescribed resource limits and meet company standards. You will participate in and contribute to all phases of systems development projects, and monitor and tune database and database application performance.
The selected candidate will be the type of person who accepts ownership of assignments and the team, and takes initiative outside immediate area of responsibility. You will be proactive, taking the initiative to learn every aspect of the job, doing what is necessary to get the job done, and assisting / mentoring other team members to meet their objectives.

Requirements:
* 5-10 years of experience in IT with previous experience developing and maintaining complex applications that make extensive use of a supported database technology, with at least 2 years of experience as a DBA.
* Experience with DB2 on z/OS platform required; DB2 on LUW is a plus; SQL Server is a plus.
* Experienced in two or more scripting languages (REXX on z/OS or Perl / Korn Shell on UNIX).
* Practiced at Entity / Relationship modeling and translation to physical database designs.
* Proficient in DML, DDL, and database utilities for at least two DBMS technologies.
* Proficient in all access methods of a DBMS, as well as the underlying operating system access methods.
* Experience with BMC tools such as Change Manager tool for DB2 z/OS, Catalog Manager, MainView or Log Master would be a plus.
* Ability to accept ownership of assignments, team, and company, and takes initiative outside immediate area of responsibility; Contributes additional effort when necessary to get the job done and to help others meet their objectives; Shows initiative to learn every aspect of the job, and strives to become a mentor to others in area of expertise.
* Experience with programming languages (Java, C++) is a big plus.
