Description:
Our client, a prestigious financial services company based in Chicago is looking for a Sr. Network Engineer to join their organization as a full-time employee. Initially, you will be working out of their Chicago Loop offices until their move to a new data center in the Northwest Suburbs scheduled for the 1st quarter of 2011. This individual will perform network design & analysis of new architectures, new routing and restoration approaches. Develops systems specifications, technical implementation plans, and coordinates complex installation projects with clients and vendors. Participates with vendors and common carriers and network engineering in the identification and resolution of complex network problems. Provides tactical and strategic input on overall network planning and related projects. Ensures network performance and network security standards are met. This individual will provide performance forecasting, and ensure "industry best practices" are met. Additionally, this individual will support the current Network and Voice environment on a day to day basis, including periodic on-call support. Individual should be able to manage projects, have good mentoring skills, and the ability to work independently.
Additional responsibilities:
* Build, test and support routing and switching components, DNS, Load Balancing and Internet proxy appliances and voice over IP and installations. * Support and Troubleshoot IP Communications between hosts and devices. * Support and Troubleshoot Mainframe IP Connectivity. * Design, Architect and Plan Network changes and new infrastructure. * Build, Test and Support Voice Over IP and Video Over IP Installations. * Install equipment and extend, punch down or make cabling connections. * Document network changes, policies and procedures and drawings.

Requirements:
* 5 years of experience in a network role with well rounded skills, including design and support. * 5 years of Advanced WAN, LAN, TCP/IP, IPX, VPN, Ethernet Skills. * Advanced Packet Analysis using Sniffer Tools. * 5 years of Advanced telecommunications technologies skills (ISDN, T1, Fractional T1, SONET, DWDM, ATM). * 5 years of extensive EIGRP, BGP4, RIP and OSPF Routing Protocol knowledge. * Advanced PBX, Phone Technologies and Video and Voice over IP. * Basic Firewall, Intrusion Detection. * Basic Understanding of Mainframe IP Communications preferred. * Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with strong solution-oriented approach skills towards problem solving required. * Excellent customer service skills, as well as leadership qualities required. * Individual should be able to manage projects, have good mentoring skills, and the ability to work independently. * Cisco Certified Internetwork Engineer (CCIE) Certification preferred, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP or CCDP) required or equivalent field experience.
